In this Home Office Lawyer post, Grant Griffiths reminds me of the importance of keeping some of your "best" for your family and not speaking to them in the same way that you speak "at the office".
Whilst it is easy to joke about coming home from the office, kicking the dog, growling at the kids and then going into your "cave", every one needs to come up with some way of making the transition from work-mode to home-life, especially if your daily existence is adversarial.
Your family can be a great support and a source of nourishment and pleasure and you should not underestimate the no-nonsense wisdom your partner can provide. Since I have been working from home, my wife has been an endless source of common sense.
All too often the person we are at work is different from the person we are at home. Perhaps we should make our work persona more like our "real" persona so that we don't have to make a transition to enjoy our family.
